Office of Faculty Affairs
The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) at WCMC-Q serves the academic staff of the College in several ways. First and foremost, we work closely with the New York Office of Faculty Affairs and the Ithaca campus to assure that all our efforts follow Weill Cornell Medical College and/ or Cornell University policy, procedures and guidelines. We support the active recruitment of new faculty, from support to the search committees, to preparation and posting of advertisements, to handling applications.
Active candidates receive detailed guidelines for preparing the material for final submission and CV development. For faculty in Qatar, we provide guidance in the preparation of faculty dossiers for appointment, promotion, and tenure actions and implement guidelines for the appointment and promotion of all academic staff. The OFA-Q monitors college-wide schedules for submission of all recommendations for appointment and alerts faculty to deadlines and procedures. We review all recommendations
for appropriateness and credentials before processing, and supervise routing of all reviewed recommendations to the proper offices and/or governing bodies with the appropriate correspondence.
As part of its information systems management, OFA-Q designs various reports needed to monitor the status of the faculty and provide data as required. It provides information on request and responds to questions from internal and external parties.
The OFA-Q provides a support system for faculty who serve in clinical, teaching, and research roles and is available to respond to faculty and staff members' questions and concerns about their College appointments. It disseminates faculty-related information, as requested, that is documented in the Academic Staff Handbook (ASH).
