Associate Dean for Pre-Medical Education
Michael D. Johnson, Ph.D.
Dr. Michael D. Johnson received his B.S. in Zoology from Washington State University and his Ph.D. in Physiology from The University of Michigan. For most of his academic career he conducted research in renal physiology and taught medical students and undergraduate students at West Virginia University. From 2001 to 2006 Dr. Johnson was the Founding Dean of Oman Medical College, a new pre-medical and medical school located in the Sultanate of Oman. He was appointed the Associate Dean for Pre-medical Education at WCMC-Q in 2008.
Dr. Johnson has always had a special interest in the education of undergraduate students, especially those who intend to make medicine their chosen career. He has won several awards for his teaching. He has also written an undergraduate textbook for non-science majors entitled Human Biology: Concepts and Current Issues, now in its 4th edition.
